Fostering
ECAR is a foster-based rescue. This means we do not have a brick and mortar shelter to house our kitties so we rely on foster homes to help keep them healthy and happy until they find their forever home. The more committed foster homes we have the more cats/kittens we save!!!
Fostering can be a lot of work and it is a commitment, but it is also a ton of fun!
A foster parent is an animal lover who generously opens up their homes to take one or more homeless cats for a short period of time until they are ready to be made available for adoption. The length of foster assignments varies based on the needs of the cats or kittens. You will receive an approximate duration before you commit, but generally you are looking at a minimum of 3 weeks.
As a volunteer foster you may host adult cats, kittens, mother cats with nursing litters, underage kittens who need special feeding and socialization or cats/kittens with special medical or behavioral needs. By fostering a cat you are providing love and stability in a nurturing home environment, directly preparing them for adoption into a loving home; therefore the transition into his or her new home happens with greater ease and success!
There are many cats in need, so the more cats we can take in the better!
Is there a safe space in your home and heart for a precious foster kitty? If so, you can find the Foster Application at the top of this page!
